1. Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device through your browser. Related technologies — such as localStorage and sessionStorage — let a site keep information between page loads, like whether you are signed in. This policy explains what HIIE uses and how you can control it.
2. What HIIE uses
We keep cookies and browser storage to a minimum. We use them only to run the app, to understand usage in aggregate, and — when you make a payment — to process it securely.
- Essential (authentication and session). Sign-in and session cookies from Clerk keep you logged in and protect your account. We also store basic preferences (for example, sidebar state) in your browser. These are strictly necessary — the app will not work without them, and clearing them signs you out.
- Analytics. We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as page views and general device information to improve reliability and the product. It is privacy-friendly, measured in aggregate, and is not used to identify individual users.
- Third-party (Stripe). When you open the payment or billing screens, Stripe may set cookies it needs for payment processing, fraud prevention, and session management. These are controlled by Stripe under Stripe's Privacy Policy.
3. No advertising or cross-site tracking
HIIE uses no advertising cookies and no cross-site or third-party tracking cookies. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to train third-party models.
4. EU, EEA, and UK users
If you are in the European Union, European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR require your consent before non-essential cookies or similar technologies are stored on your device. Essential cookies needed for authentication and core functionality may be set without consent. We record your cookie choice and rely on it, together with your browser settings, to manage non-essential cookies.
5. Managing cookies
You can view, block, or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers let you remove individual items, block third-party cookies, clear site data on exit, or set rules per website.
Note that disabling essential cookies or clearing browser storage will end your session and sign you out, and may stop parts of the app from working. You will need to sign in again after clearing this data.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here. Your continued use of HIIE after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
