Checking the Environment tab's key mode and health badge
The Environment tab in the Connections section tells you which Composio key your account is actually running under, along with a live indicator of whether it's healthy.
What the tab shows
The Environment tab displays the resolved Composio key mode for your account. The mode is one of:
- byo — your own Composio key from the Credentials vault.
- project — a dedicated Composio project key minted for your account.
- shared — the managed fallback key, isolated per user.
- none — no key resolved yet.
Alongside the mode, a live health badge shows whether the resolved key is working.
Masked hints only
For BYO and dedicated-project keys, the tab shows only a masked hint (the last few characters). The full key is never returned to the browser — consistent with how HIIE handles every credential.
Why check it
Use the Environment tab to confirm your account is on the isolation tier you expect. If you added your own Composio key but the mode still shows shared or project, that tells you the BYO key hasn't taken effect. If the health badge indicates a problem, your integrations may not work until it's resolved.
Related actions
If your account is on a dedicated project key, you can rotate it from this tab — see the article on rotating a dedicated Composio project key. To switch to your own key, add it in the Credentials vault.
