Why a new project defaults to 'Untitled project' and how the summary is set

When you create a project without giving it a name, HIIE doesn't block you — it simply assigns a sensible default and derives a summary from your brief. Here's how that works.

The default name

If you leave the title blank in the Idea Lab, the project is created with a default name ("Untitled Project"). This is by design: a blank Idea Lab is treated as a valid "start from scratch" project, so you can get moving without being forced to name things up front. The projects API applies the same fallback server-side, so a missing title never breaks creation.

How the summary is set

You don't write a separate summary — HIIE derives it from your brief. The summary is taken from the opening portion of what you wrote (the first ~160 characters), giving the project a short, automatic description that reflects your idea.

Why it's done this way

This keeps the create step lightweight. The priority is getting your idea into a project quickly; naming and polishing can come later. A blank or minimal brief still produces a working project — just with a generic name and a short or empty summary.

Getting a better title and summary

If you want something more descriptive, give the project a title in the Idea Lab. And because the summary comes from the brief, writing a clear, specific opening sentence in your brief is the easiest way to get a meaningful auto-summary.
